It’s exhausting feeling exhausted and it’s exhausting battling with that inner voice that others may seem to think we should just be able to change at the drop of a hat. I get it - We want to feel better, but it’s really truly hard right now. Therapy can help us uncover what might be going on underneath that’s making it so hard and help us find a path forward. It can feel like no matter what we do, our inner critic has something disheartening to say about it. It makes it hard to take some of the vulnerable risks that are required to find fulfillment and joy in our lives and can prevent us from feeling like we even deserve fulfillment and joy to begin with. Our inner critics are often learned and very well practiced. There’s hope - we can learn new ways to be with ourselves that are more supportive on our path.

Sometimes in relationships we can find ourselves in dynamics we don’t like, but we can’t put our fingers on why or if we can, we don’t know what to do about it. Our attachment systems, nervous system responses, communication patterns, and thinking can sometimes get in the way of us finding fulfilling connections. Therapy can help us see those patterns more clearly and make active choices to find more fulfillment.
-
When we’re deciding to go to therapy, it’s often because we’ve run out of ideas for how to approach our challenges and are looking for new ways. It can feel like we’re banging our heads against the wall every time we fall into the same old patterns. Mindfulness is essential to our growth - if we’re not present with ourselves, practicing non-judgmental awareness, curiosity, and gentleness with ourselves, we’re going to have a much harder time making different choices in the moment.
